Ford - Built to Last

There’s a specific kind of gravity that old trucks have. They don't just occupy space; they hold onto history.

While wandering through a recent car show at Mackenzie Park here in Lubbock, I found myself stopped in my tracks by this mid-century Ford. In a sea of vibrant paint jobs and neon accents, this build spoke a different language—one of raw power, hard work, and meticulous restoration.

The Beauty in the Build

As a photographer, I’m often drawn to the "faces" of these machines. This Ford, with its iconic horizontal grille and those towering vertical exhaust stacks, felt less like a vehicle and more like a portrait subject.

By stripping away the color and focusing on a monochrome finish, the details truly began to pop:

  • The Contrast: The deep, dark finish of the body against the blinding polish of the chrome bumper and stacks.
  • The Texture: The rugged wooden stakes of the bed paired with the sleek, curved lines of the 1948-1950 era cab.
  • The Stance: Those dually rear wheels and heavy-duty mirrors remind you that before this was a showpiece, it was a workhorse.

A West Texas Story

There’s something uniquely "Lubbock" about seeing a vintage farm truck transformed into a piece of art. It reflects our local roots—the grit of the agriculture industry meeting the refined eye of modern design.

Capturing this at Mackenzie Park was a reminder of why I love visual storytelling. It’s about more than just a truck; it’s about the hours of labor in a garage, the pride of the owner, and the way light catches a piece of steel that has survived the decades.
